My sojourn to Bhutan was enriched by Phurba's outstanding guiding and knowledge. His passion for his homeland and his immense understanding of its history, its people and its traditions made this a trip of a lifetime. Phurba was certain that we had access to all aspects of this amazing nation, and he customized our itinerary to align with our own interests and curiosities. I have been fortunate enough to travel to many parts of the globe and can say with confidence that Bhutan Himalayan Tours and Treks with Phurba as my guide was an extraordinary experience.  With more than 17 years experience Phurba has a comprehensive knowledge of Bhutanese customs and culture.  His sense of humor, command of the English language and numerous stories kept me informed as well as entertained. He was able to customize my tour based on my interests that included a trek to the base of the sacred Mt. Jhomolhari, the beautiful Punakha Dzong, the spiritual and dramatic Tiger’s Nest and the unforgettable Chimi Lhakhang or Temple of the Divine Madman, to name just a few. So if you are looking for the journey of a lifetime I would definitely recommend letting Phurba with Bhutan Himalayan Tours and Treks guide you through his beautiful home and country, Bhutan.

Our trip to Bhutan was a magical journey into a sacred space with spectacular scenery, a rich culture and wonderful people.  Every aspect of our experience was enhanced to the fullest by our guide Phurba.  As as well educated and long time Bhutanese guide who lives part of each year in the United States and part in Bhutan, he is knowledgeable of everything Bhutanese (Buddhism, Flora and Fauna, Culture, Food, Accommodation, etc.) and is an excellent communicator.  His English is excellent; his humor and warmth made us feel very comfortable; he accommodated our varied requests both in planning the trip and “on the fly”; his patience is remarkable; and we always felt that he genuinely cared that we were having the best possible experience.

Two weeks was a short time to spend in this amazing country - but every day was filled and yet we never felt rushed or on a set agenda.  Ithink this speaks most highly for Phurba and his ability to both organize and adjust to changes.

We hiked to make pilgrimages to sacred mountains and temples.  Phurba told us fantastic stories about Guru Rinpoche, Hidden Valleys, and Yetis. We learned about the temples and Dzongs, learned new mantras and had many blessings bestowed on us.

An excellent driver drove us in a comfortable van on the curvy mountain roads across the country.  Once you see the roads, you will understand what an accomplishment this is!  We saw a great diversity of flora and fauna.  Crossing the passes was always spectacular.

We spent a day with Phurba’s family where we could really get a glimpse of life in Bhutan. Then we were treated to a hot stone bath overlooking the Punakha valley.

I can’t say enough about my time in Bhutan or about Phurba and his Company.  I am so very grateful,
